Recently, a new, huge LED sphere is illuminating the Las Vegas skyline. As part of a special show to celebrate the 4th of July, for the first time ever, the city’s newest landmark “MSG Sphere” lit up to say “Hello world”.

The Sphere at the Venetian Resort was originally scheduled to open for the first time in 2021, but construction has run into delays and costs are said to have ballooned to an estimated $2.3 billion.

What is the MSG Sphere?

The MSG Sphere is a new entertainment venue in Las Vegas and so far the largest LED screen on the earth. Officially known as Exosphere, it’s a next-generation entertainment medium featuring a massive 80,000-square-foot exterior of fully programmable LEDs to display art. The Exosphere has approximately 1.2 million LED screens, each containing 48 individual LED diodes, capable of displaying 256 million different colors.

Designed by Populous, the global architecture firm, and manufactured by SACO Technologies, a canadian company specilaized in LED video lighting and media solutions. The media server delivering pixel processing and show sontrol technologies is provided by 7thSense, a British creative software and technology company.

Sphere LED lighting technology

LED facade lighting can do wonders for the exterior of a building. It makes clever use of LED lights to accentuate the building’s unique character at night. The whole purpose is to enhance the visual appeal of the building and draw attention to its architectural design. While the main purpose of facade lighting is to illuminate buildings, its application possibilities are constantly growing. It no longer just brings brightness. It can also convey a message, spark a movement, or advertise and promote a company, idea or event.

SACO cleverly used large gaps, good heat dissipation, and light LED video facades to create the Exosphere, the great architecture in human history.
